Being a parent can be pretty stressful. The tantrums, the play-dates and appointments, figuring out how to deal with each stage of your child’s development, navigating the mundane everyday tasks of keeping up with housework and paperwork and organising everyone’s entire lives without forgetting all the fun things too.
A few years ago, I felt like I was drowning. Like no matter how hard I tried to keep up with this whole organised mum thing, I just could not get it right. All I wanted was to be organised, and on top of everything so we could have slow days, so things were just simpler and less chaotic, and so that I could just enjoy being a Mammy. Don’t get me wrong there are so many days where I still feel like that and I feel like I am dropping balls all over the place, but those days are not very often anymore thankfully.
I think back then I don’t know how many times I searched for ‘how to be an organised mum’, ‘how to organise your entire life’, ‘easy cleaning routines’ – and I will say straight away, that I didn’t click on one website and it magically solved all my problems, but I did learn from clicking on all those websites, that we are all pretty much winging it. What works for one family, may not work for yours and that is okay. It’s okay because there are hundreds and hundred of other methods of doing things and one of those will work for you.
One of the biggest thing I did learn is that routine is your friend. You may not think that now, you may think that you don’t work like that, you are too much of a free-spirit to have a routine – but if you think about everything you do in a day, day in day out, chances are you probably are following a loose routine anyway. We are creatures of habit after all.
The second, is that we simply have too much stuff. Too much stuff in our homes, too much stuff in our brains, too much stuff to do, too much stuff we didn’t get around to (again…), just way too much stuff. If you really want to feel and notice a difference, decluttering our homes will be what makes that difference.
I decided to write this blog because I want to help you. I want to help you to cut out the hours of searching for the perfect system so that you are able to work out what will work for your family and what doesn’t work.
I want to help you simplify your life so that motherhood and parenting isn’t as hard. So you have time back to actually spend with your family and enjoy it, without feeling that you are constantly falling behind.
It isn’t just the ‘stuff’ and the routines that need to be figured out, what I found was that all areas of our life have such an impact on our stress levels and how well we cope with this whole motherhood thing. Our nutrition, how much we move, how our finances are looking, how much ‘me time’ we get, our relationships, our health and our happiness. I want to help you figure it all out.
I would love to hear from you!
